Fruit and vegetable processing – hygienically controlled.

At Place UK’s headquarters, and our Norfolk based growing centre, we plant, grow, process and pack strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, rhubarb and process many more imported fruits for our multi-national portfolio of clients. All the locally grown produce is transported back to Tunstead, where we have our own substantial processing factory equipped with two Starfrost I.Q.F. Freezing Tunnels capable of 5 tonnes per hour continuous freezing, together with washing, inspection, fruit grading equipment and freezer storage warehouses.

Within this hygienic processing centre, we also process and freeze pulses, pasta, mung bean sprouts, char-grilled vegetables and have a fruit puree inspection, washing, sieving, chilling, packing and freezing line.

Place UK also ‘Process’ clients’ own fruit and vegetables, and due to our Soil Association accredited status, we can process customers and other growers organic ingredients; we can even source a specific organic ingredient directly through our extensive global supply chain.

With impeccable credentials as a leading fruit grower, plant breeder, and supplier of British and overseas exotic fruits, we have further diversified operations. Place UK are now one of the leading suppliers of organic and conventional foodstuffs, including:

• A cooked and frozen dried pasta range for food service, private label and own label ready meals.

• A home grown – state of the art beansprout factory – processing fresh produce for food service; or supplying cooked and frozen beansprouts for stir fry ready meals and savoury spring rolls.

• We are also cooking and freezing all varieties of GM FREE pulses from organic adzuki, to chick peas and red kidney beans. Applications include ready meals, soups, salads and vegetarian dishes: their IQF qualities ensure excellent flavour and texture, whilst giving the food processing manufacturer available ease of use and maximum efficiencies.

• Additional de-canning and further food processing /freezing facilities: we are now supplying an extensive range of food ingredients including pineapple, citrus fruit, fruit cocktail, deciduous fruits, canned pulses and canned vegetables. Applications for these ingredients cover a wide range of consumers’ favourite foodstuffs including pizza toppings, desserts and ready meals. Pineapples are used in pizza toppings and afford maximum flavour and quality, combined with stringent microbiological safety parameters and convenience. Requirements from a ‘freeze dry’ client may involve custom-cut apricots or peaches: they can only be secured from one of our decanned facilities and offer ease of access, convenience, low cost and high profit.

Other examples of Place's food processing operations include freezing, char-grilled and / or frozen vegetables. Our supply chain includes 'daisy cut' baby corn from fresh, frozen or canned sources.

Place UK Ltd are able to contract grow a specific fruit or vegetable on customers behalf with the added benefit of being able to further process to a finished ingredient state i.e. puree / IQF / Sliced or Diced etc. All with maximum traceability and additional provenance of British Origin status.

Contract Growing

Place UK can process both conventional and Organic certified produce under their Soil Association accreditation.
